AXIOME integrates the blade cutting process into cells with one or more polyarticulated robots, with simple or ultrasonic blades. These single or multi robot machines (from Stäubli, ABB...) follow the desired production pace and can be combined with robots also equipped with milling. The design of the machines, with automatic tool change, gives great flexibility of use and allows high speed use. As an indication, the average cutting speed is between 50 and 250 mm/sec.

AXIOME has developed blade tools of the "knife" type with compliance. In the case where an "ultrasonic blade" head is used, the blade vibrates at high frequency to facilitate cutting. AXIOME has developed automatic blade change systems, which allows the cell to work independently: the robot can detect broken blades. The integration of ultrasonic blades on robots makes it possible to cut many materials, such as "dry" composites (carbon fibre fabrics for example) or pre-preg composites.
